My in-house critic suggested some zip. Said it was too vague (his artistic terms). So I add color and line to the marsh grass.

Today I added detail line in the foreground. I also increased some contrast in the sky and refined the marsh grass on the right middle ground. I'm encouraged by the technique I used with the brush in the foreground and will try it again with some modification on the next painting.

Worked exclusively on the ground. Changed the brush color in the middle ground to a more green gray and less violet. Overpainted the foreground and scratched through the wet paint. Next plan is to paint into the area for more definition.

Added some color variations in the sky and ground. Decided to try underpainting the brush area and then scratching through the overpainting to depict the brush.

This is a view of the dunes at Long Beach, Provincetown looking across Cape Cod Bay to Wellfleet. This session took about 10 minutes. The foreground will have bare dune bushes.
